These guides cover a diverse range of topics and have been divided by role to keep the information as relevant to you as possible.

User's Guide -- Covers the installation and use of Image Resizer

Translator's Guide -- Covers the process of translating Image Resizer into your native language

Developer's Guide -- Covers building Image Resizer from source and provides an overview of its components

Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes I get asked questions that aren't speciffically related to using the software. I'll try to provide answers to those questions below.

How can I donate to the Image Resizer project?

Call me crazy, but I don't accept donations. My employer pays me enough to code. Everything I do outside of work, I donate to the community for free. The biggest contribution you can make is to spread the word: Tweet, Like, blog about, or do whatever you do to let your friends know just how handy this little utility can be!

What formats does Image Resizer support?

By default, image files with the following extentions can be resized: bmp, dib, gif, ico, jpe, jpeg, jpg, png, tif, tiff, wdp. However, Image Resizer will also be able to use any Windows Imaging Codecs (WIC) that have been installed. For example, after installing the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack, vendor-specific formats from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Leica, Minolta, Epson, and Panasonic can also be resized.

Does Image Resizer use nearest-neighbor, bilinear, or bicubic interpolation?

Starting with version 3, Image Resizer actually uses a Fant resampling algorithm, which produces a higher quality output than all of these. For more information on the algorithm, see A Nonaliasing, Real-Time Spatial Transform Technique.

Updated Wiki: Home

About
Image Resizer for Windows is a utility that lets you resize one or more selected image files directly from Windows Explorer by right-clicking. While I intend to cover the basics too, my main focus will be on the things that you probably didn't already know.

Installing

Selecting files

Naming resized pictures

Changing default sizes

If there's anything more that you want to know, feel free to use the Discussions tab above. Also, if you think something is missing from the Image Resizer, request it using the Issue Tracker tab.

Updated Wiki: Selecting

User's Guide: Selecting files
There are many, many ways to select files inside of Windows Explorer. Here are a few ways that will be useful in terms of resizing pictures.

Mouse only

To select a single file, simply click it (rocket science)

To select multiple files, drag to create a selection around them

To select all files in a window, click Organize on the toolbar, then click Select all

Mouse and Keyboard

To select multiple consecutive files, click the first one, hold down Shift, then click the last one

To cherry-pick multiple files, hold down Ctrl and click each of them

Keyboard only

There are many bizarre things you can do just using the keyboard, but I'll let the advanced users discover them for themselves, but here some that everyone might find useful.

To select all files in a window, press Ctrl+A

To invert your selection, press Alt+E, I

Search power!
Another powerful tool that you can use to select files is the search box. For example, if you only want to select the pictures that you took today, type Date taken: Today in the search box then select all the files.
